Just Imagine If The Catholic Church Advocated For The Poor And For Peace To The Extent They Advocate To Deny Women Birth Control

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is still not satisfied with President Obama’s stance on the provision of contraceptives by entities affiliated with the Catholic Church.

Just imagine if the Catholic Church had taken such a forceful stand against the unjust war in Iraq, or growing American poverty, or the failure of its own officials to protect young people who trusted the Church.

Retired New York Cardinal Edward Egan recently retracted his apology for sexual abuse within the Catholic Church.

Folks in the Catholic Church have a wide range of views that run from left to right. This is no different from the membership of any other large group or organization.

On the other hand, the leadership of the Church appears to be very much a group of men who have lost their way.

  1. I decided as a young girl that I would not allow a bunch of ole white men to determine how I was to treat my body.As a Catholic with two daughters, both military, one back in Iraqui for the 4th time, This time with the “MOBILITY” Unit, cleaning up a hellava mess.I taught them the same views. I agree Neil, that our concerns should be of more interest rather that birth controll. As a retired teacher children born without fathers, in the home is a serious problem. But these girls do not use the pill. The church does do a lot of charitable things, they need to encourage the pill, or something, but these are serious problems and a danger to our economy. The POPE did ask Bush not to go to war. He didn’t listen. As Ben Laudan warned us “I will break you as I did Russia, if you invade Iraqui” Now we see what happened.
