Taking It Easy—I’m Certain The Obama Second Term Will Be Nothing But Blue Skies And A Day At The Beach

I took it easy yesterday on the day after the election.

I spent the day walking along the beach at Galveston, Texas.

Was I able to do this because in a second Obama term many of us will be able to freeload and do nothing while the “wealth creators” and the “job creators” do all the work?

No.

I was able to take the day to drive to Galveston because I had the day off from work.

The conservative idea out there after this election that people voted for Mr. Obama because they wanted free stuff is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I guess this is what you get from folks who deny global warming, and who thought until the very end that Mr. Romney would win the election.

  1. 100 years more of global warming and there won’t be a Galveston. Enjoy it while you can.

  2. Now the real work begins and that achieving a lot of those goals we hoped for un ”08 that never really got the attention they deserved. Number one priority is – NO not the budget – that’s a head fake from what really needs to be addressed. It’s anthropogenic global warming and its impact on the increased rate and intensity of storms and droughts around the globe. If Sandy wasn’t a wake up call to this then we are doomed. Only the very wealthy want to address the debt so they use it as excuse to gut necessary social safety programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

See Dean Baker’s piece on this.

  3. You are a pretty big talker for a fellow that voted for Jill Stein. If you believe in the man, stand behind him. Don’t gloat because your horse didn’t come in either Neil. I thought TEXAS LIBERAL was an oxymoron….but now I realize its just one moron. I have spent quite a while trying to talk sense with you, but it is truly like arguing with a door knob.

    But here we go again:

Yes, Obama’s second term will bolster the entitlement programs that have been the solid platform of the democratic party. Keep them dependent on you and they have to vote you back in. Why is that hard to believe? At least they have good reason to do so. The others that voted were fooled by the rhetoric or just fools. You agree there are those who do nothing while collecting money from the government? Who pays for that? The wealth creators and the job creators- that’s who. Those very same people who gave you the day off to enjoy the beach. If your employer has to lay off people due to this administration’s actions, will you proudly put your head on the chopping block or hide behind the fact you voted GREEN?

Global warming is not denied by the Republicans (update your talking points Neil, they call it Global Climate Change now since it is freezing in other places now). Man-made global warming is disputed by more scientists than those who propel the fear tactics. Its a money maker. Does charging for CARBON CREDITS prevent global warming? That’s insane!!! America could stop producing carbon dioxide altogether (we could stop breathing too) but what is going to stop China and India and Russia and Europe and all the rest of the industrialized world from GLOBALLY DESTROYING OUR WORLD? It’s absolutely ridiculous Neil. The world climate changes….remember hearing about the ICE AGE? Thank the Good Lord for the cavemen driving their SUVs through the Tundra in order to allow us to come out of that. What a crock!!!!

The trickle-down disaster that is about to occur will be on the shoulders of the inept, the insane and the apathetic. This fiscal cliff that was in front of us the whole time is quickly approaching….the wealthy will get poor and the poor will get crushed…..get ready Neil because I don’t think either of us is wealthy.

  4. bacopa—True.

Larry–Hopefully Mr. Obama will be more focused this term on global warming.

Mike—If an Obama voter is lazy by definition, than surely a Green voter would be seen as something worse.

Didn’t I earn my day at the beach in exchange for the hard work I do for my employer?

  5. […] at Texas Liberal took a ride to Galveston for a walk on the beach on the day after the election. The second Obama term will be nothing but lazy days on the beach for the coalition of moochers […]

  6. You are being hyperbolic Neil – you shouldn’t be. Are you calling ALL Obama voters lazy? You tell me what to call a Green voter? Useless may be the perfect word. I am certain you earned your day at the beach. How many people did you see while there that didn’t earn it? I am sure ZERO in your opinion. Good dialogue too. I like the way I list out so much info and you boil it down to nothing. Absolutely nothing. Does that mean you have not retort?

Larry, why didn’t you guys accomplish your goals in 08? Why vote back in the guy who failed to deliver? Think about that. I like the way you say the environment is the most important thing on the docket too vs. the economy. Do you think the starving folks in Greece are concerned with the temperature? You have your logic absolutely backwards Larry. Man-made global warming / climate change is the red herring. Neil hopes Mr. Obama will be more focused this term…..let’s HOPE.

  7. Mike—You’ve called me a moron and now useless in this exchange. Now it could be that such terms sting because they are true. We never have a full sense of ourselves. But what reply do you expect even if I’m not so much bothered by your assertions in regard to me?

As for climate change—Even the CIA and the military is concerned. It is not just some hoax or bad science.

“Climate change is accelerating, and it will place unparalleled strains on American military and intelligence agencies in coming years by causing ever more disruptive events around the globe, the nation’s top scientific research group said in a report issued Friday. The group, the National Research Council, says in a study commissioned by the C.I.A. and other intelligence agencies that clusters of apparently unrelated events exacerbated by a warming climate will create more frequent but unpredictable crises in water supplies, food markets, energy supply chains and public health systems.”

The anger at people who may be getting government funds who could otherwise be working seems to be directed by some at only Obama voters. Yet I find it to difficult to imagine that many Romney voters are not such folks.
