“I had binders full of women which my family passed down through the years as our menfolk selected their many wives.”

how about “When I am looking to make my staff bigger, I reach for my binder full of women”
So you saw the debate this time I take it….and you, like the rest of the herd, gravitate to the “binder full of women” comment. Did it stick out at you the moment he said it? I heard it, but never gave it a second thought because I was listening to the message and not the man. Poking fun at him won’t get us anywhere. That’s like snickering and pointing at someone because they mispronounced a word or making fun of Jerry Jones for saying he was “looking for the Glory Hole days again”. Tell me what the joke is because I am obviously missing it. If your going to blog about the debate, why not pick on one of the many substantive moments that can get us all discussing the matters at hand. heheheheh he said binders full of women….heheheheh…grow up Neil.
Mike–I did notice the comment when it was said. The reason it was relevant was that it was indicative of a guy who had to go out of his way to find qualified women for appointments in Massachusetts. It all may sound like frivolity, but it pointed out that Mr. Romney is not at all ease with the subject of giving women a chance at important jobs in government.

For the sake of argument, let’s assume you’re right and he wasn’t at ease with it.
He had more women in senior state roles than any other governor. Would you rather have some nebulous idea of “ease” or actual results?
So what is worse? A guy that goes out of his way to find qualified women or a guy that doesn’t notice the imbalance? I think you are digging to find reason’s to discount Mitt, while you say you don’t endorse Obama because you are voting Geen. Maybe you see Mitt as the man to beat.
I certainly do hope Mr. Romney loses. I’ve said many times that there is a difference between Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney. There are bottom line issues of equal pay for equal work and support for health services for women that Governor Romney can’t be counted on to support.
Right you are Matt. Why don’t we talk to the women in his cabinet (or his binder..for Neil’s sake) and see how they feel about Mr. Romney’s support.
You are way off base Neil. Do you think Republicans stand against women and all minorities? Quit following the carrot that is being dangled in front of you. How will Jill Stein handle pay equity? Can you honestly tell me? I have 6 guys that do the exact same thing I do at work and i guarantee you we all get paid differently. Some have more tenure, some more talent, some more skills…but none of us have a uterus so I guess we can’t claim discrimination. How would women have survived all these years without the liberal left “protecting” them. Romney will hurt women…by the binder full…..
Mike–I think many Republicans believe that they support what is most fair for all, and I also think that many Republicans would eagerly support policies that are unfair to people unlike themselves. Can you deny that women have often gotten the unfair end of the deal in our American history? Have I ever said that one group of people should be treated better than another group of people? Thanks.
What? Republicans support policies that are unfair to people unlike themselves? You mean productive? Women have gotten an unfair deal in our American history…yes, I can agree. History is in the past. This is 2012. The labor unions that supported Norma Ray worked to earn equal rights for women in the workplace. Look around. Women are in the armed forces, corporate board rooms and everywhere in our society.
You asked if you have ever said one group should be treated better than another group…I would have to say yes, you have. We should treat the poor better than the rich is your philosophy- right? Your whole idea is that everyone should be equal and all things fair. But that idea in it’s self is unfair. Tax the rich to support the poor.
That’s not fair, is it? Someone is going to work harder and get more than those who do not. Inherently lazy people will shirk duty, while people who value a job well done will sacrifice themselves for a goal. That’s human nature.
Why do the rich pay a higher tax percent than the poor? Why is that considered fair? Why do you and I work for our food and clothes, while others stand in line for theirs? They get the money that we have earned through hard work?

I don’t think everything should be equal. Lazy people should not be rewarded. I think some people need some help for no fault of their own and I don’t mind paying taxes to help them. I bet you don’t as well. I don’t think it falls into the easy categories you state that the poor do nothing but get or that the rich have not benefited in many ways from government. It is a more complivated picture than our politcal denate in America allows for at the moment.
