I Did Not Vote For Barack Obama So We Would Cut Social Security And Medicare—Contact The White House

Discussions over raising the debt ceiling are ongoing.

(Above–Barack Obama at a campaign rally I attended in Houston in 2008.)

All I can say is that I did not support Barack Obama in 2008 so that we could see cuts in Medicare and Social Security.

We’ve gone more than far enough with tax cuts for the wealthy and sacrifice for everybody else.

Isn’t this society tilted enough towards the wealthy and powerful?

I’m not sure what else I can say. People know where they stand.

We’ve got to understand the nearly-irredeemable nature of our conservative opposition at this point in our politics, and we’ve got to make the decision that we are going to make progress in this country.

Contact the White House and tell President Obama not to sell out everyday Americans.

  1. All the polls strongly show that most Americans have no problem raising taxes for the wealthiest 2% while also showing that they do not want to see Social Security or Medicaid benefits reduced.

The voter mentality that put Repubs in charge of the House is seeing signs that those votes were mostly wasted on the wrong people. The 2012 elections are still a long way away to bear this out and in the meantime wages and lack of jobs keep putting families further in debt and many on the streets, including millions of children.

  2. Don’t call the White House. CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE. If your representative is a Republican, call from every different phone number you have. Send many emails. Snail mail can sometimes have a huge impact.

  3. People would indeed accept tax increases for the wealthy.

It is indeed the case that you should call anybody you can possibly to think to call on this very important concern.

  4. When Repubs are talking on TV, they mislead the public by saying “We will not let the Pres. raise taxes, and the public gets scared becaise they do not know that he is referring to only the richest.I write my congressmen constantly, both parties. All this mess is typical of Repub weanting to rule all and run the country. The others that vote for them are only the pawns that put them in office, because the Repubs do not care one thing about them. They would set back and let this country fall only to get back at Obama. Everyone of them goes to church on Sunday, WHY When elected to office you’re suppose to work togerther to run our nation
