How Do Average Working People Who Are Republicans Tolerate These Things?

Republicans in Congress have blocked a bill for medical care for 9/11 responders because of an alleged concern it would add to the deficit.

Yet at the same time Republicans insist on tax cuts for the most wealthy regardless of the impact on the deficit.

I wonder sometimes if we live in a legitimate country, or if we all exist and work so a powerful few can prosper.

How do average working people who vote Republican tolerate these things?

Even if you disagree with Democrats on many issues, how do you stand something like this?

  1. “They” support Republicans because Republicans are FOR:

    God
    Guns
    No Taxes

    And AGAINST:

    Abortion for any reason

I could go on, but those four items above boil it down.

They are all around me here.

  2. I have realized that Republicans that vote this way, really have no empathy for others.Even if they were raised poor, once they are on the other side long enough, they acquire this feeling. After WW 11 Physcologist studied for years, to understand what the Nazi’s did and how could they. They finally understood that “If you have no empathy for another race, this creates EVIL and this allows you to do anything” This is the feeling Republicans have, also for the older ones, thy can’t stand the idea of some young intelligent BLACK man over their WHITE country. Some if you know them well enough will even admit it. For Black politicians against OBAMA, they think they are siding with the in crowd. Young black men have a hard time standing up for other blacks, against the in bunch. Now you go to FT. Bragg and most all young black soldiers love him. I have a black son-in-law, (25 yrs. ARMY Strong) and we discuss these things. This also gives me access to other black soldier, and they feel the same. Even many white veteran soldiers will admit this. Republicans will never work with this Pres., and they are morally wrong.I really think that Obama understands this.Have a lovely day

  3. To add to my earlier comment. These reasons are why some new and old Republicans are talking about “property owners can vote and some of the other stuff. Some even continue to like testing for voting rights. All this goes back to creating the R. Party. The main thing was they did not believe that the BILL of Right, should be in the Const. This Black Pres. has reminded them of all the Rights they are giving to the poor, blacks, women ets. Many of them would love to have the power that Middle East men have in mamy Muslim country. Just think about it.

  4. It’s the same thing in Italy… and in every country exists the capitalism!
Gary is right, when says: ” I have realized that Republicans that vote this way, really have no empathy for others.”
That people thinks that helpin’ the others be a big madness; they loves only the money and the… war, because they thinks that the war be the best way to “earn” more money and more power.
The problem is (I guess) political, ethical and cultural too.
And in this problem, surely the mass-media don’t give us a hand: the tv is ridicoulus, internet is full of bad informations, the press and the radio are embedded etc.
Excuse me for my bad english!
    Bye

  5. Hey GARY, I have Republican friends and they feel the same way. I also feel this. I have never understood, “How you can be against abortation, and justify wars, that are illegle and capitol punishment. In the CATHOLIC BOOK OF ETHICS, in which the POPE gave Bush and Obama a copy, it says. “You will respect life from the time of conception or untill that life is over due to oldage”. I think the Pope gave Bush a copy as he ask him not to go WAR, for Obama his stance on oboratio. As a catholic I am against that but feel that men in this country should not make laws telling me what to do with my body. Or for that matter my two daughters, that have both served, one still in. As she is presently in her third deployment . Her husbande 4.I like the way the Republicians explain, “we can’t have taxes go up on the middle class”.If these taxes had not been extendeed, my daughter a school teacher, would have lost $38 hundred. These people are the ones I and the Pres. are concerned about, Your firefighters, nurses, etc. Not the 1%-2%that make millions.Tjey also vote everytime for 69 billion to rebuild Iraq and fight Afgan. Hang in there Gary and keep talking
