The Big Five Personality Traits

Below are what I saw listed as the Big Five Personality Traits.

I can’t recall where I got this from. I think it may have been the Wall Street Journal.

No matter.

Here are the big five personality traits that a person might wish to possess—

1. Openness

2. Conscientiousness

3. Agreeableness

4. Stability

5. Extraversion

I think these qualities are an excellent goal for people to shoot for in life. I’m going to print this list up and keep it in my wallet because this stuff decribes the person I wish to be.

It’s also describes the person I wish you were.

  1. This is a good list. It appears to me that President Obama has some of these traits and continues to strive to build on these traits.

  2. Sounds like the combo would make for a pretty neat person. Of the five, I guess I would have to admit a slight deficiency in #4. But of course, to listen to our rather vocal rightwing friends, all of our “ilk” are severely lacking in that department (chuckle) . . .

  3. Cats—Yes. I agree that Mr. Obama has some of these traits. It is such a difference to see a real adult who behaves as an adult in our high public offices.

Peggy—Oh no—It takes a lot of stability and focus to retain concern for others in this harsh world filled with our vocal rightwing rightwing friends. It takes stability not to get so mad sometimes about all the mean people that you give up on folks.

  4. Thanks for that comment, Neil. I have often thought that people who are called “weak” by overbearing bullies are actually the strongest of the bunch. It does take a lot of courage, strength and optimism to resist the temptation to just join them . . .

  5. I agree and there’s more than meets the eye. Check this out!
