Anti-Muslim Leader Seeks Re-Election In Indian State Of Gujarat

An election in India is commanding some international attention.

In the Indian state of Gujarat, BJP Chief Minister Narendra Modi is seeking another mandate.

The voting is taking place at the current time.

The BJP, a former ruling party of India, is, in essence, a Hindu nationalist party. They are of the political right.

Here is the link to the BJP of Gujarat.

Here is a link to the Congress Party of India. Congress is the governing party of India and the opposition party in Gujarat.

Mr. Modi was in office when Hindus killed many Muslims in riots in 2002 in Gujarat. It is claimed Mr. Modi looked the other way as the violence took place.

Over 50 million people live in Gujarat.

Mr. Modi is expected to retain his office in Gujarat, though possibly with a reduced majority.

Fighting between religions is against the vision of a united India held by Gandhi.

People will vote for leaders who have done very bad things. This is true all around the world.

( Update–12/23/07—The BJP won a strong showing of 117 of the 182 seats in the Gujarat assembly.  Here is a report on the election from India.)

  1. Communal riots have not started by Hindus in India. Its origin during the last days of British rule who divided Hindus and Muslims and made a nation named Pakistan and created fear in their mind that Hindus are against them so that the Pakistanis will turn to them for their protection from Hindus. If the Hindus were really communal as some people potrayed no religion except Hindus would have remained in India. After British, the Congress Party played many triks to stay on power in the country. In many places their party works organised riots in order to polarise votes in their favour. The Congress Party’s appeasement politics is the main cause of riots in India.

Christians and Muslims in India think that they are smarter than Hindus and doing conversion to their releigion
at the cost of Hindus. This kind of will definitely have an impact on majority Hindus. No country in the world majority religion has no voice except in India.

The political parties should work for the betterment of every citizen of the country and not for a particular cast or creed.

  2. Appeasement of what? The idea of India as something other than a Hindu State?

You’re telling me Hindus have no voice in India?

It’s same thing all over…Poor helpless majority afflicted by some clever cunning minority. In many parts of the world they would blame Jewish folks. You folks just have a different line-up of faiths so you blame those people.
