I Waved And Smiled At Guy In Horrible Yellow Hummer Because Maybe All People Have Some Good

It is difficult to say anything nice about someone driving a yellow Hummer outfitted with a radar detector. I’ve seen such folks in Houston before and never said a nice word. However, I have to admit that I gave a wave and a smile to the driver of just such a vehicle a few days ago. He let me into traffic in a tight spot.

You never know when you’ll find some good in even the most annoying and global-warming inducing person.

My spring blogging break is a winner and I’ll be back to normal posting in a few days.

  1. LOL, good for you man, but does the possession of such a vehicle make one a bad person?

  2. Well, I’d be hard pressed to say that owning such a vehicle makes one a good person.

  3. Why would you be hard pressed to say that?

  4. Because even putting aside the issue of the lousy gas mileage on a Hummer, I find the size of the car a breach of public civility. They strike me as very agressive in size and design. This is a personal reaction though one I imagine I am not alone in feeling.

  5. So it is the aggressiveness of the size and design of the vehicle that makes its owner a bad person?

What if the owner needed such a vehicle to make his living (not that the majority of Hummer owners do)? Would this hypothetical fellow then not be a bad person?

Much like truck drivers, no? They make their living driving hulking vehicles yet they’re not bad people because of it, right? So then it’s not the inherent aggressiveness of the wheels but rather on the reasons for the person to drive such a thing.

  6. maybe because of your kindness he might not kick the shit out of his wife.I doubt he traded in for a hybrid but showing respect and a positive attitude is important to anyone you run across. Proud of you.
