13th Annual March To Abolish The Death Penalty In Texas On 11/3 In Austin—Texas Progressive Alliance Round-Up

Here is the weekly posting of the Texas Progressive Alliance round-up. The TPA is a confederation of the best political bloggers in Texas. TPA members are citizen-bloggers working for a better Texas.

Above you see notice of the 13th annual March to Abolish The Death Penalty here in Texas. Here is the website of this march.  This march will be in Austin on November 3rd.

It is not difficult to imagine that innocent people are put to death in Texas or that many of our political leaders in Texas would not care very much if such a thing is happening. Our political leaders in Texas do all sorts of brutal things.

Here is the website of the Texas Moratorium Network that is working to end the death penalty in Texas. Here is the Facebook Page of the Innocence Project of Texas.

The everyday citizens who are working hard against the death penalty remind us that every  Texan and every American has the ability to attend a public meeting, attend or organize a protest, write or call an elected official, talk to friends and family, start a blog, donate money, write a letter to the editor, volunteer for candidates and causes, engage in acts of civil disobedience, and to run for public office.

I run these words each week in this space. This is because there is nothing more important that I can tell you.

The work of freedom and justice is up to each of us.

Here is the round-up—-

Off the Kuff has a Q&A with Democratic SCOTX candidate Michelle Petty, who is running against one of the Court’s least ethical members.

BossKitty at TruthHugger wants all Texans to have all the Texas Voting Information they need, so this will stay at the top of the blog’s homepage until November 6. Meanwhile, she is disgusted that our Cowardly Congress Kicks The Can Again, and is overjoyed to see more corporate manipulators exposed, in Do You Hear Me Now?

Three Wise Men forecasts the 2012 presidential and Senate elections.

With Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein scheduled to be in Houston and San Antonio from October 4-7, PDiddie at Brains and Eggs found it necessary to once again slay the persistent urban legend that Ralph Nader was responsible for Al Gore’s defeat in the 2000 election.

We’re facing another legislative session that will be harmful to the majority of Texans unless we act now. That’s why WCNews at Eye on Williamson is pointing this out now: Here we go again.

Over at TexasKaos, Libby Shaw explains why the GOP is obsessed about voter fraud. Hint: the best way to get away with something is to accuse your opponents of it.

Neil as Texas Liberal noted that you have the right to take pictures of bridges and infrastructure and anything in plain view so long as you are not tresspassing. Neil said that business and government are teaming up to deny the basic freedom to observe and make note of the things that are around us in a so-called open society.

CouldBeTrue of South Texas Chisme observes that Greg Abbott, likely gubernatorial candidate, goes all Christian Taliban by promoting bible verses in school.

  1. Obama got his #$%$ kicked at the Debate on Wednesday, because he had no teleprompter or someone to back him up. Mitt Romney schooled Obama on Economics plain and simple, without a teleprompter Obama had no idea how to defend his ideas and failed record as a President. The next day Obama told some of his supporters that at the debate was not the real Mitt Romney. So here is my question Mr. President if that was not the real Mitt Romney than who showed up and kicked your #$%$ at the debate? When Liberals lose they make excuses, because they can not run on failed policies and ideas. Now 48 hours later the unemployment drops to 7.8% after the worse debate I have ever seen by an Incumbent President. These unemployment numbers are fudged because Liberals can not debate so they have to use corruption to keep power. Well what really gets me is that all the headlines yesterday were saying the lowest unemployment since January 2009 well it’s time to fact check everything.
    1. Actually in January 2009 the Unemployment was 7.7%, in 2000 Under Bush the Unemployment was 4%, When Bush left office it was 7.7% in January 2009 with a increase of 3.7% unemployment under Bush.
    2. Obama actually took office with a 7.7% and faced Unemployment as high as 10%, both Bush and Obama had increases in Unemployment.
    3. GDP(Gross Domestic Product) under Bush was 3.3%
    4. GDP(Gross Domestic Product) Under Obama is 1.3%, 2% lower than what we had under Bush.
    5. Bush added 4.9trillion to our Nations deficit after 8 years and two wars
    6. Obama has added 5.5Trillion in 44 months of being President, his term is not over yet
    7. The truth is Obama is cutting 716Billion from Medicare, but what know one will tell you is that he is actually stealing it to pay from his expensive Obama Care.
    8. Average Gas Prices under Bush was $2.14 a Gallon
    9. Average Gas Prices Under Obama $4.00 a Gallon and rising
    10. Obama wasted $90Billion on Green Energy(Solar and wind … Solyndra and Fisker and Tesla and Ener1) They all failed, Mitt Romney was right Obama only picks the losers.
    11. What Obama does not tell you that when the Bush tax cuts expire in January 2013, Every bodies taxes will go up that means The rich will pay more and so will the Middle cl#$%$ as well wake up people Obama and his admin are liars.
    12. Obama is still giving Billions to Egypt and Libya this is tax payer money even after the attacks.
    13. Any of you really believe the 7.8%, than I guess you can’t fix stupid, it was suppose to go up to 8.2% from 8.1%, but since Liberals and Obama can’t debate unless they use a teleprompter, they have to use corruption to get reelected.
    14. Obama has turned his Back on Israel
    15. I guess we have to jump up down for creating more Part-Time jobs than Full-time jobs, so much for a real recovery what I see is sadness
    16. The funny thing is a I am a Independent Conservative that is a registered Independent, but I have to agree that Obama is failing.
    17. Under Obama Banks are to big fall we have to bail them out
    18. Under Obama the Government needs to be bigger and less Accountable, because Obama thinks he knows what is best for me.
    19. Obama was a two year Senator
I can go on and on about this, but the truth is if you vote for Obama for another 4 years America will fall we are at what nearly 16.3Trillion in National debt Obama added 5.5Trillion of that by the end of his 4 years it will 6Trillion if not more. These are facts Obama can not defend his own failed record without a teleprompter Obama will get crushed at these Debates. Romney will continue to school Obama. I am a Iraq Veteran against Obama. One more thing before I go when I went into Iraq and we did not have the equipment we needed that was due to the Bill Clinton cut backs on the Military. When you are at war with Democrats in charge you get a big knife in your back. Obama is worthless after the first Debate that was clear enough. My name is Jared W. Campbell and I approve this message.
