Ongoing Drought In Houston

Above is a picture of trees at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center.

I took this picture yesterday.

These trees are sick and dying due to the long drought that we are having in Houston and in Texas.

Here is the most recent federal map on where in the U.S. drought conditions are prevailing.

Here is a link to water conservation rules and suggestions for Houston.

Here is a Houston Chronicle story on the drought’s impact on local trees.

I hope it rains soon.

  2. I do as well. It did rain yesterday. But not nearly enough. I suppose it will take a steady number of weeks of rain to get to where we need to be.

  3. I bet the golf courses are still green.

  4. The public ones in Houston at least might not be green. The city seems serious about the water restrictions. I’d be less sure about private courses.
