From a Clinton Supporter: Congrats Obama. I back him up 100% (even though I still think Hillary would be a better president) but time to move on, the super-delegates have decided and it is now time to win the presidency.

Normally I agree with most of what you write, but I think ‘miracle’ is a pretty inaccurate discription. I honestly think you’ve fallen victim to the Liberal apologetic streak – some liberals refuse to see that actually, modern America is a much more tolerant and open minded place than they’d care to admit.
Mind you, I live in New York and you live in Texas, so I imagine ‘our Americans’ are pretty different!
Roland—Thanks for this comment and for being a faithful reader.. New York did not seem to be so racially progressive electing race-baiting Rudy. Nor did Geraldine Ferraro seem a model of racial progress. And Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the nation.
I’d simply say that given the history of the nation and that 40 years ago we still had a segregated nation, that a black man getting the nomination is something of a miracle. No apologies involved—It’s folks on the right who need to be apologizing for years of misdeeds.
I will be working very hard for the election of Senator Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States of America. Thank you, Neil.
